StorHouse/RFS Product Achieves Finalist Status in the Prestigious IM2005
Awards Competition - Judges Recognize
StorHouse/RFS for Its Innovation and Excellence Rockville, MD (November 8, 2005) - Today, FileTek announced that an independent panel of expert judges chose the company's StorHouse/RFS product to be a finalist in the competition for a prestigious IM2005 award in the Information Storage category. The Information Management Awards - the premier European recognition of innovation and excellence in business information management - acknowledge groundbreaking products and solutions that deliver tangible business benefits. Winners will be announced at the gala IM2005 Awards Banquet and Ball on December 1, 2005. StorHouse/RFS works in conjunction with FileTek's StorHouse® data storage and access management system for administering massive amounts of structured and unstructured historical data, fixed content, and their associated backups. StorHouse technology combines an automatically managed virtual hierarchy of industry-leading scalable storage devices and Open System processors with specialized software components that provide storage management, relational database management, and file system interface support. StorHouse/RFS, the StorHouse file system interface component, provides the unprecedented scalability required to support billions of files required in large active archive applications. Unlike traditional file systems, StorHouse/RFS scales by using StorHouse/RM relational technology instead of inode- and link-based structures to index and locate user files. With StorHouse/RFS, ease of use is paramount. The software simply presents itself to an application as a virtual drive (an NFS, NTFS, or CIFS mount or share point). Applications read and write files to the virtual drive just as they would to any mapped Windows drive or network file system (NFS) mount point. Currently, StorHouse and StorHouse/RFS are key components of the ongoing digital preservation initiative at The National Archives of the United Kingdom, the oldest archive in the English-speaking world. Ann Dyball, FileTek's
Regional Area Manager, commented, "FileTek acknowledges industry
recognition of our StorHouse/RFS product and considers it an honor be
a finalist in the IM2005 awards competition. We look forward to showcasing
StorHouse/RFS at the awards banquet in December." About FileTek ©2005 FileTek. All rights reserved.
