FileTek UK Purchases National Healthcare Services Portfolio - Step is Logical Extension to Previous Appointment as MEDITECH's United Kingdom Distributor


Rockville, MD (March 25, 2003) - FileTek UK Limited, a data management marketing and services division and subsidiary of FileTek, Inc., has purchased a portfolio of assets and ongoing National Health Service (NHS) managed service contracts. FileTek UK acquired the contracts using a combination of cash and other monetary considerations. Centennial Computer Corporation, a U.S.-based company, acted as advisor to FileTek UK for the purchase. It is expected that the transaction will yield $37.5 million in turnover to FileTek UK over the next five years.

With this acquisition, FileTek UK expands its representation of Medical Information Technology, Inc. (MEDITECH) in the United Kingdom, a role MEDITECH assigned to FileTek in 2001. MEDITECH provides data management software products for hospitals and medical facilities worldwide.

The purchased portfolio contains Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contracts with NHS Trusts in England and Scotland. It also includes contracts with independent hospitals throughout the United Kingdom.
