Press ReleaseFileTek Forms Relationship with IBM - Maryland-Based Company to Offer Solutions Using IBM's DB2 DataJoiner Rockville, MD (June 19, 2000) – FileTek, Inc. announced today that they have entered into an agreement with IBM to market and sell an integrated database solution combining IBM's DB2* DataJoiner and FileTek's StorHouse®. StorHouse, acting as a data source for DB2 DataJoiner, will provide customers new database and storage options into optical and tape storage. StorHouse is the only relational database using SQL to allow direct query access to rows stored throughout all storage media (e.g., tape, RAID, optical). FileTek designed StorHouse to manage terabytes to petabytes (1,000,000,000,000,000 bytes) of enterprise-wide atomic or detailed data, enabling the storage and exploitation of exhaustive business information such as, telephone call details, market basket data, and financial transactions. "The combination of StorHouse and DB2 DataJoiner will help break the cost-barrier to growing applications to petabytes and beyond," said Felipe Cariño, FileTek's Director of Strategic New Business. "By providing relational SQL database query capabilities to access data stored on disk, optical and tape media, many businesses will now be able to design and implement the same cost-effective solutions now used by current StorHouse end-users." "The combination of StorHouse and DB2 DataJoiner will allow customers to easily integrate data across the enterprise and take advantage of the options for optical and tape storage," said Hershel Harris, IBM's Director of Data Management Strategy. "With IBM's DB2 DataJoiner customers have the reliability and scalability needed in today's e-business marketplace." DB2 DataJoiner, IBM's multi-database server, allows databases to remain autonomous while bringing location transparency to the organization. Applications and users can query and manipulate all their data by issuing standard SQL statements that DB2 DataJoiner coordinates, translates and optimizes for all data sources. To users and applications, the data appear to be in one table just like it came from a single source. It doesn't matter if the source data is IBM or multi-vendor, relational or non-relational, local or remote. The StorHouse solution with DB2 DataJoiner is currently shipping and available directly from FileTek. Please contact the company for further information and pricing. About
