Press ReleaseFileTek Announces Transparent Connectivity with Microsoft SQL7™ - MS Application Users will now have access to databases of virtually unlimited size Rockville, MD (March 27, 2000) – FileTek, Inc. today announced that its StorHouse® family of products can now transparently connect to, and integrate with, Microsoft SQL Server 7™. SQL Server 7 in combination with StorHouse will enable Microsoft Windows™ users to access data stores of virtually unlimited size through a single, transparent familiar interface. StorHouse will provide enhanced performance and scaling in a cost-effective way, expanding a company's ability to reach into the massive data assets vital for true enterprise initiatives in business intelligence and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). StorHouse is the only relational database that allows direct access to rows stored across all storage media (e.g., tape, RAID, optical). FileTek designed StorHouse to manage terabytes to petabytes of enterprise-wide atomic or detailed data, enabling the storage and exploitation of exhaustive business information, such as: Internet clickstream detail data, telephone call details, market basket data, and financial transactions. "StorHouse adds value to SQL Server 7 by providing transparent interoperability to allow applications that use SQL Server 7, like MS Access™, to access vast amounts of atomic data," said George Pasterak, FileTek's VP of Development. "This, in turn, allows the customer to produce business information heretofore impractical or impossible.” "This is another example of how FileTek customers, using StorHouse software, gain the power to access more information without modifying their native products," said Rob Simonds, Vice President of Marketing at FileTek. "With StorHouse, their ability to selectively access data from a massively scalable database is virtually limitless." "StorHouse provides any relational database with a unique augmentation scheme called 'relational transparency',” said Pasterak. "Traditional database extension products like HSMs provide only file level transparency; the database will attempt to access data on disk and tape in the same way, creating severe performance bottlenecks. StorHouse’s relational transparency extends the database using a separate database optimized for accessing information stored on any media from disk to tape. This solution delivers cost-effective scalability, addresses real world reliability and availability requirements, automatically provides lock-free backup and disaster recovery, and makes enterprise detail data asset management a practice rather than a theory." StorHouse, with these new connectivity features, is available directly from FileTek. Please contact the company for a StorHouse white paper, pricing, or further information. About
