William C. Thompson
Chairman of the Board of Directors
Mr. Thompson is a senior corporate executive and successful venture capitalist with over 40 years of computer industry experience. In 1975, he helped jump-start the Greater Washington, D.C. area's strong information technology sector when he founded Centennial Computer Corporation. He has been President of that company ever since.
In 1984, Mr. Thompson founded FileTek, Inc., where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board. Since then, he has engaged in other successful entrepreneurial activities in the Washington, DC area, including:
- serving as an investor and board member of C3, Inc., a federal government systems integrator, and
- serving on the board of Telic Services Corporation, a telephone industry software and services company, which was sold to Computer Sciences Corporation in 1991.
Other career highlights include being Executive Vice-President of Federal Data Corporation and District Sales and Regional Technical Manager of Control Data Corporation.
In addition, Mr. Thompson was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a pilot and computer systems analyst. Mr. Thompson holds a B.S. in mathematics from the University of New Mexico and an M.S. in statistics and data processing from Stanford University. He is also a graduate of the Stanford Business School's Executive Program for Smaller Companies.
